iPhone Air Fails to Generate Interest

A new study revealing consumer preferences for Apple’s iPhone 17 series, introduced this year, shows that buyers are gravitating toward the “Pro” models, particularly due to the RAM upgrade. According to Evercore’s annual consumer survey, the vast majority of users opted for the iPhone 17 Pro or Pro Max, while the iPhone Air didn’t achieve the expected popularity.

According to an investor note cited by AppleInsider, 56 percent of respondents in the US survey of 4,000 people said they planned to purchase the iPhone 17 Pro or Pro Max. In contrast, less than 10 percent opted for the iPhone Air, meaning approximately 400 people are considering the device for everyday use.

Analysts argue that the low interest in the iPhone Air stems from perceived poor battery life and the limited usability of its single rear camera. However, according to official Apple data, the iPhone Air actually offers longer battery life than the iPhone 16 Plus and iPhone 16 Pro. Still, consumers have developed a negative impression of this model.

Experts emphasize that this US-only survey may not reflect global demand for the iPhone 17 series. Apple is expected to sell 100 million iPhones this year. However, production of the iPhone Air will reportedly be minimal, with Apple allegedly viewing this model as a test run for future, thinner-designed products.
